Canadian Open 2008

The Canadian Open 2008, an event that shouldn’t be missed!

Quebec City has been chosen to host the 2008 Canadian Open. The winner of the event will represent Canada in Japan at the IGF (International Go Federation) World Amateur Go Championship. In addition, several players will be selected to represent Canada in various international events such as the Korean Prime Minister's Cup, the North American Fujitsu Cup, the International Youth Go Championship and the International Pair Go Championship. The tournament will last three days, from August 30th to September 1st 2008.
There will be, in addition to the main event, a pair-go tournament, simultaneous games with a professional and an official dinner. These activities will be held downtown, making it possible for participants to enjoy Quebec City's 400th anniversary festivities. Based on the participation rate of past years, we estimate that at least a hundred players will take part in this event.

A unique event:
• An on-site professional! (Guo Juan, 5 dan pro)
• Three days of Go-playing excitement!
• Team games! (Pair-go)
• An enchanting environment! (Old Quebec)
• A chance to meet players from all over the country!
• Your chance to fly to Japan or Korea!
